Summer

Summer is here! Almost... :)
I just found out my sister has a conference in Washington D.C. next week and my other sister and parents are going to fly out there and spend a few days with her site seeing.  Since class is over I decided to take the kids and join them!  It is going to be great.  The kids will get to see some amazing things and bring some souvenirs and pictures back for show and tell at school!  I've never been farther east than Indiana so this is going to be exciting!  There is a lot that needs to be done before we go so it will be very busy around the house for next few days.  I'm trying to finish up everything that needs to be done for my classes - I have a comprehensive exam I need to take in Anatomy and Physiology II class.  Ouch.  Lol.
I really enjoyed blogging for this course - I hope it stays in the curriculum for future classes!
Good luck to everyone!

The End

Wow!  Time has gone so quickly the last 9 weeks; it is amazing!  I've learned so much; not just in this class, but in Anatomy and Physiology II as well.  It is hard to believe that the end is near.  I had a really great time in my classes this term.  I learned how to write an awesome and engaging research paper, and more about the human body.   I've had a few internet problems lately that have made me miss a few seminars, and I'm a little disappointed about that.  I enjoyed the seminars A TON and to miss the last two doesn't seem fair!  I am happy to say that my paper is finished, for the most part.  I'm waiting to hear back from the writing center to see what changes I need to make for that final touch.  I also have to finish a 10 page paper on the circulatory system :\ (that is my worried face LOL).
I've been running around like a chicken missing it's head the last few days; Easter is always a fun but extremely busy time in my family.  We always have Easter dinner at my house, along with an egg hunt for the kiddies so I've been trying to prepare for that.  The bunny needs to deliver his basket of goodies tomorrow morning before church as well.  A little bird told me that the bunny was light on the candy but big on outdoor toys - frisbies, bubbles, jump ropes.  :)  Fun for everyone!

To wrap this up - I enjoyed talking with you all and hope to see you again in future classes!  Good luck and only the best to everyone!

Honey and Cinnamon

Good morning all!
I recently received an e-mail about honey and cinnamon that intrigued me.  Basically what it this e-mail claims is that honey and cinnamon combined have huge possibilities for curing all kinds of diseases as well as alleviating some troublesome symptoms attached to those diseases.  Some of the claims are pretty amazing - helping prevent heart disease, curing arthritis completely, clearing up bladder infections, lowering cholesterol, curing common colds, helping with upset stomachs, relieving gas, strengthening the immune system, relieving indigestion, killing flu viruses, removing pimples, increasing life span, clearing up skin infections like eczema and ringworm, preventing and curing certain types of cancer, reducing fatigue, curing bad breath, restoring hearing, and even helping lose weight.   That is quite a hefty list.
I did a little bit of poking around on the web to see if there had been any studies or clinical trials proving any of these claims, and didn't really find anything substantial.  I've included a couple of links at the bottom in case anyone else is interested in reading what I found.
In regards to weight loss, it never ceases to amaze me how many people are willing to try things like this to get around actual work.  It is possible a combination of honey and cinnamon with water helps when trying to lose weight; however, nothing is going to replace a healthy diet and exercise.  Some of the sites I found stress that both of those WITH honey and cinnamon will provide faster weight loss.  Some sites state that you didn't need to change anything at all except to drink this honey/cinnamon concoction.
I think that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. That saying may be trite, but it is definitely true in my opinion.

This last link I found very interesting - it is a clinical study that is currently being conducted for the effect of Manuka honey for oral mucositis caused by radiation therapy for cancer.

I would definitely like to see the outcome of that study.

Blogger Music

Good afternoon everyone!  I added music to my blog a few weeks ago and someone asked me why it was skipping when they tried to listen to the song.  At first I thought maybe it was the file hosting service I was using, but I did some experimenting with it and that seemed to be okay.  So I tried it on a few different computers and eventually found out that Mozilla Firefox doesn't play .mp3 files very well.  So if you view my blog using Firefox and the music is skipping there isn't too much that can be done that I know of.  It works well in Internet Explorer but I know not everyone likes IE.  I looked into converting it from mp3 to mp4 ( IE and Firefox both play that well) but I don't really want to pay for a file converter!  So, unfortunately, you will be missing some wonderful music when you view the page with Firefox   :-P    Then again, you might be glad you can't hear the music!!
I did a ton of revision on my rough draft over the last few days.  I thought I heard Dr. Manning say not to post the draft to the discussion board until we had gotten feedback from her but I wasn't sure.  I didn't want my post to be late so I went ahead and posted it today.  When I get something back from her and if is something that I didn't already change (I changed a lot) I will do some more revision and post the new one.  I could really use some input on my draft.  So if two people have already posted, and you are incredibly bored I would appreciate any comments you feel like sending me :)
Thanks and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Time

Wow!  Time is really flying by this term!  It seems like there isn't enough time to get everything done.  My kids will be making their first communion in April and every night it is really hectic - practicing, shopping for dresses and suits.  They are doing a sign language presentation after the ceremony so all the kids need to know this sign language by heart.  It is really neat, but a lot of work for 2nd graders who already have tons of homework and other after school obligations.
It has definitely been a struggle this last week to get all my homework done as well.  Along with the draft, PDO, blog and reading for this class, in my other class there was a test, rough draft of an eight to ten page paper, reading and discussion of course.  Hopefully next week it will slow down a bit - I think I"m catching a cold :(
Good luck to everyone else on their assignments!

Parlez-vous français?

In high school I took two years of French class and loved it!  I was so eager to get out of there that I graduated a year early.  My counselor at the time told me that was a big mistake and I would regret it later.  I waved her off - I knew best, of course.  Now, of course, there are many things I would have liked to do in my senior year - one of them being another year of French class!  It's such a beautiful language.  Recently I purchased a program that teaches French on the computer.  I was amazed at how much of it I remembered.  Hopefully I will be able to learn AND remember the language!
If anyone is fluent in French, please correct my numerous mistakes! :)
What I find hard about learning it is that pretty much everything is feminine or masculine.  Also, words that I think should be spelled the same aren't!  For example, "I want" is "Je veux".  But if you are saying "you want" it is "vous voulez".  "He/she wants" is "il/elle veut".  Well, I will keep plugging away at it.

Oh!  I decided to add some music to the blog.  Every week I will have a new song playing.  Yay, music!

Affordable Luxury

Hello everyone!
I just thought I would blog and share what happened today. I needed some new towels for the bathroom so I went to Linen's 'n' Things. While wandering through the lush jungle of comforters and shower curtains I stumbled upon a clearance rack. Usually those little cart's have products that have been opened and returned, or some type of noticeable flaw - so I walk right by without even glancing at it. Today, however, a glimpse of royal purple caught my eye. Tucked underneath an incredibly ugly pink comforter was a queen sized set of 1200 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. They were neatly folded and looked like they had never been out of the package. Being a single mother I don't typically spend a lot of money on things I can do without. But today I couldn't resist slipping my fingers into the package and touching the fabric. So soft - even before they were washed! I assumed there was probably some mistake but checked the package for the clearance sticker anyways. Lo and behold, there it was! Completely affordable and too tempting to resist. I was so excited that I purchased them and left. I didn't think twice about the towels I had gone there for in the first place. Oh well... I guess I will have to go back tomorrow - and you can bet I'll be checking that clearance rack again.
